The History of Tiramisu

The origins of tiramisu are unknown, but it is believed to have been created in the Veneto region of Italy in the 1960s or 1970s. The dessert became popular in Italian restaurants in the United States in the 1980s, and it has been a favorite ever since.

The Tiramisu Olive Garden Recipe

The Olive Garden is a popular Italian-American restaurant chain that serves a variety of dishes. The restaurant’s version of tiramisu is one of its most popular desserts. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Marsala wine
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 1 cup strong coffee
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water and whisk constantly until the mixture thickens and becomes pale yellow, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the bowl from the heat and whisk in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. In a shallow dish, combine the Marsala wine and coffee. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for a few seconds, then arrange in a single layer at the bottom of a 9-inch square dish.
  5. Spoon half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, then repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  7. Before serving, sift the cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu.
